The Vampyre Awakening…

by Madame Corvidae

The vampyre’s awakening is often touted as the first step to one’s vampyric journey… but what exactly does it mean to have a vampyric awakening?

When one has a “Vampyre Awakening,” it is the process of realizing that they themselves are a real vampire. The way this comes to be is different for everyone and the way one’s awakening looks will depend on the style of vampyrism they personally subscribe to.

Personally, I subscribe to the Vampyric nature involving a good bit of spirituality. A Vampyre’s esoteric nature works well with the magickal world. There are people and organizations that absolutely do not mix spirituality and Vampyrism. Atheists and MedSangs are not keen on the spiritual vampyre experience. I respect their beliefs and kindly disagree. Since we are a Vampyre Coven here after all, our concepts and definitions lean in the magickal direction. We generally can’t choose to be a Vampyre but we can choose how to handle what we are. Respect for the paths of others should be universal as long as it’s not detrimental to the community or just flat out bullshit. Anywho

People will tell you that Vampyre Awakenings come in all different forms, shapes, and sizes
 and they’re generally correct.

When a Vampyre has their awakening, it starts at the moment they realize something isn’t quite normal about them. Self-awareness of this phenomena can happen at any point but often shows up anywhere between adolescence to adulthood. More often than not it will begin in the teens and gradually become more apparent as time goes on. However, every awakening story is different in this regard. Sometimes it happens all at once and they discover their Vampyric nature in a barrage of noticeable change. Sometimes it happens gradually where they can feel the change within them but don’t fully understand it until later on. Either way, it changes your point of view and inherently your entire life the moment you realize your awakening has begun.

For some vampyres, they’ll realize they’re suddenly acting in a way that is reflective of their need to feed, manifesting in erratic or destructive behavior. Some vampyres end up stumbling across the VC or vampyric materials and realize what they are right away. They have a full on awakening and acknowledgement period all at once, which can be very disorienting. Sometimes vampyres don’t put 2 and 2 together right away and don’t realize until later that their past behavior was a side effect of their original vampyric awakening. They have a secondary awakening later on when they become aware of the vampyric phenomenon that helps them unravel their past experiences and realize their vampyric awakening happened in their past. Ultimately, no matter when one has their awakening, the moment they become aware of it triggers a lifetime of study, practice, and dedication to understanding your vampyric nature and feeding its needs to keep yourself in line with your highest potential.

How do you know you’re having an awakening? What’s an awakening feel like?

Both of these questions are asked often, but neither of them have an easy answer.

Awakening can feel like nothing, or can be completely Earth shattering. It can be slow and gradual, or it can hit you like a ton of bricks. It can happen without you knowing, or you can be aware the whole time. Where on the grid you fall is dependent on the unique variables of your life.

A vampyric awakening can be a joyous and amazing time filled with expansion of your physical and mental capabilities. However, any kind of spiritual awakening can cause confusion, distress, and general chaos in your life. It is not uncommon for someone going through an awakening to go through extreme mental strain and feel out of control.

The world often seems like a different place all together after having an awakening. We see things differently, we interact with things differently, our philosophies can change, the way we carry ourselves can change. As Vampyres, we should explore these differences and learn all we can from them. Our inherent capabilities and sensitivities to realms beyond normal human reasoning should be practiced, honed, nourished, and grown to lend us in the quest to achieve our greatest possibilities. While we have the world at our fingertips, only a taste of our potential power is given at the time of awakening. Unfortunately, many Vampyres will never grow past the point of awakening. You have to continue on your path to find your true potential.

Experiencing an awakening of any kind can be a frightening thing. You can begin to feel subtle gradual changes in your outlook or the way you view things. Or you can have night and day differences turn on like the flip of a switch, causing you to question everything you’ve ever known before. No matter how it happens, it can be a daunting experience. Don’t rebel against it or show it fear. This is likely going to be a part of you for the rest of your life. Embrace it. Acknowledge it. For trying to suppress it will only hold you back.

What about Vampyre Awakening symptom checklists?

Any responsible experienced vampyre will tell you not to use them to self-diagnose. They’re all kinda crap.

There’s no checklist that can for sure tell you if you’re a vampyre. A lot of the checklist style vampyric diagnostic tools out there give you the silliest things like sensitivity to sunlight, irritability, fatigue… Every person in America is irritable and fatigued right now. Every hermit with pale skin also have sunlight sensitivity. So are they all vampyres? Of course not, but the confirmation bias of tools with such common traits and no nuance tells everyone who looks at it they’re a vampyre.

Oftentimes people are seeking symptom checklists and articles that explain what they’re going through to validate their experiences. Outside validation is nice, but don’t become dependent on it. Explore your journey. Feel it out for yourself and decide if it’s right.

So you’ve decided you’re having a Vampyric Awakening, now what?

First thing you do: study.

Read things, read so many things. Explore on your own for a while. Draw your own conclusions about who and what you are for a while. I assure you, jumping right into community and seeking outside validation from strangers is not the best first plan of action. The vampyre community can be a harsh place and you should allow yourself time to explore what you’re experiencing without worrying about combating the bias and discrimination the VC often has to offer. Stand tall and confident in what you know you’re experiencing and don’t let the community strip you of that. Study for your own sake first.

What you end up studying and researching ultimately depends on what type of vampyre you are.

  • If you end up feeling like a sanguine vampyre, especially on the medical sanguine side, you go to The Red Cellar and read all of their materials.
  • If you end up feeling like a psychic vampyre or eros, it’s best to get into learning about life force energy, energy work, and the energy body.
  • If you’re somewhere in the spiritual vampyre realm that doesn’t sit in any of the above boxes, you’ll have an “unconventional” path compared to what “traditionalist” vampyres are prepared to handle. See this article to learn more

The one thing that generally remains true about all styles of vampyrism is a tendency to feed. Whether it’s an inherent or unavoidable need or not also depends on the style of vampyre, but feeding is a commonality amongst all vampyres regardless of the style of need.

Vampyric Feeding

Many vampyric awakenings come with an inherent need or deeply coded desire to feed on either blood or energy.

The need to feed can surface and become apparent through a series of vulnerabilities or behaviors like emotional instability, erratic behavior, involvement with unnecessary drama, attention seeking, and dangerous/destructive behavior. It can come with carnal and animalistic feelings, primal urges, and even bloodlust. It becomes apparent at some point in every Vampyre’s awakening that you need to do something to quell certain curiosities and urges. This is often the point when you start to reach out to others like you.

When you have these primal urges to feed, this is when your energetic study, your sanguine research, etc.. .This will all serve you well in handling feeding in safe and ethical ways. There’s no need to suppress these urges, but there is a need to indulge in them in safe, sane, consensual, and risk aware ways.

Vampyric Gifts & Sensitivies

Once you learn to feed your needs and balance your Vampyric nature, you can experience a number of heightened sensitivities, abilities, or dark gifts. They begin to come alive within you during your awakening. You can begin to see energy fields/auras of individuals. Manipulating energy and therefore emotions and other psychic energies become possible. Heightened attunement for energy gives you heightened awareness of things around you. This attunement can be used to tap into energetic resources around you for your own growth. Being more sensitive to all types of energy allows the Vampyre to easily sense emotions and sometimes even sometimes the thoughts of those who are nearby. Those who are empathic carry this out with further ease.

Because of a Vampyre’s heightened sensitivity to all energies, a Vampyre has a more crucial need to shield or oneself from excess energy or filter out what doesn’t serve them. This energetic sensitivity can manifest itself in many forms. Be it empathy or sensitivity to many things like sunlight, specific sound frequencies, electric fields, emotions of others, etc. Our sensitivities can be heightened to a problematic state when we do not tend to our needs.

Conclusion

To wrap things up, a vampyre awakening is a powerful and personal journey that marks a major shift in how someone experiences the world around them. For those who go through it, it can bring new sensitivities, deeper spiritual insights, and an understanding of abilities they may not have realized they had. It’s a process that can feel both overwhelming but empowering, but it’s also a chance for growth and self-discovery. As people navigate this experience, it’s important to seek out knowledge and embrace the unique gifts that come with it. At the end of the day, a vampyre awakening isn’t just about accepting a new identity; it’s about learning to live more authentically with the awareness and understanding that comes with it.
