The Covenant of The Vampyre Coven

The Covenant of The Vampyre Coven

Published May 20, 2024 – Edited July 31, 2025

The rules of our Coven are pretty simple. If you’re not being a dick or completely unhinged, you won’t break our rules. 🙂

The Covenant of The Vampyre Coven is a set of tenets that every traveler of our Coven is expected to respect, and every initiated member of The Coven swears to uphold. As an active traveler or member of the Coven, you will be expected to uphold these tenets. The Covenant is a Pact all members make to uphold our core values. By becoming a member here, your agreement to these values is implied.

The Pact

We swear to inspire courage, wisdom, integrity, comradery, and evolution amongst our Coven and the greater vampyre community through our word and deed.”

We intend to do that by venerating the traditions & legacies of our past through devotion to preserving vampyre culture while updating them to be usable in the modern age. We honor the community through putting our effort into continued work archiving history & evolving teachings that have been passed down to us. As a Coven we strive for higher quality intelligent discourse and an open space for discussion on vampyric and witchcraft topics that stray from the “norm.” We hope to facilitate a stage that allows VC organizations from far and wide to come and have an audience, should they want it. By example, we lead a charge to raise the energetic vibration of the entire vampyre current. As comrades of the Coven, we swear to uphold this Pact together.

The Pact we all agree to uphold includes the following 7 Tenets:

Blood of the Covenant

The Blood of the Covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. We, the members of The Vampyre Coven, understand that we are a family by means of common interest. Our energetic bonds grow the more we interact. Over time, we all become unique parts of a single spiritual organism. We understand that we may not always see eye to eye, but we also understand that we must acknowledge and celebrate our individuality as well as our shared history and traditions. Together we grow, weaving the threads of the tapestry that is our web of wyrd. We are comrades of the Blood. We are stronger together than we are alone. We seek to build and maintain supportive relationships between one another. Try to see things through the eyes of your coven mates and understand their behavior. Diversity and open-mindedness empowers us. Treat those of the blood with honor, dignity, and respect at all times.

Respect

Respect for Each Other

Always remain courteous and show respect. Even to those who are less deserving.

That does not mean to allow people to disrespect you. This simply means you should handle yourself in an unemotional diplomatic manner whenever possible. Resolve conflicts privately when you can. Confront those who have offended you directly but without aggression. Know that you have the right to protect yourself, your honor, your family, and your home; but, you need to do it with respect. This means hate speech or bullying, verbal abuse, discriminatory statements based on race, nationality, gender, age, or sexuality will be met with expulsion from the Coven. Respect also means respecting boundaries. If you disrespect boundaries you break consent and you will be removed from the Coven. That includes unwanted advances and unnecessarily lewd comments. Consent is ALWAYS required.

Respect for Reality

While we are a space that allows the sharing of aesthetics, lifestyle, media, and fiction… we are also a space that caters to education about real vampyres, witchcraft, and other occult subjects. We carry ourselves in a realistic manner. We will not enable the sharing of make believe passed off as reality. We do our best not to allow the sharing of misinformation.

Integrity

Be honest. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Behave in a way that generates trust. Consider your words sacred and wield them with honor. Have pride in yourself and your Coven. Take responsibility for your actions. Be accountable and hold others accountable. Vampyres are often not bound by the constraints of human morality. However, due to the spectrum of morality amongst vampyres, it is of the utmost importance to live a life of integrity. Integrity is something the VC widely lacks, and we need to fix that. Your word is your bond. Lying to your coven mates or generating drama by means of duplicitous behavior is strictly forbidden.  Integrity behind your words and deeds is one of the biggest fundamental values you should carry with you in life, and if you don’t have that… we don’t want you.

Personal Responsibility

We are the architects of our own lives; our thoughts, beliefs, and actions shape the reality we experience. We take responsibility for our lives and hold ourselves accountable for the results we produce. Our thoughts, our words, our actions or (lack thereof), and our beliefs will have an impact on our lives. You have a choice in how to present yourself to the public, the way you talk to people, what you get yourself involved in, the research you put into things before you take risks, the way you behave in general. If you consistently make the wrong choices and put yourself in bad positions, you have to own that and fix the pattern. Personal responsibility is about accepting that we are responsible for our own Self Control and we are accountable for results we produce based on our actions. We cannot simply blame external circumstances for every negative (or positive) experience we encounter. Holding ourselves accountable means being honest with ourselves about the choices we make and accepting potential risks & repercussions should we make mistakes. It requires us to take ownership of our thoughts, beliefs, and actions and to make sure we’re making choices that align with our goals and values. Being unable to take accountability for your own life is a disqualifying quality from our Coven & its programs.

Tolerance

It is expected of all members of the Coven to be respectful and show tolerance for people of all races, nationalities, genders, and sexual identities. It is expected of all members to be tolerant of points of view that do not deny another person their basic human rights. If your subject matter encroaches on territory that limits someone’s rights, you will first be warned and asked to change the topic of conversation. If you continue, you will experience our chain of discipline. Acts that go against our covenant of tolerance include things like conversion in regards to religion and sexuality, demonizing someone’s identity, and otherwise ostracizing someone for their choices that otherwise aren’t hurting anyone.

Note: things that go against our “respect for reality” tenet are not exempt from being questioned. It is not intolerant to point out discrepancies in facts. We do not engage in “Paradox of Tolerance” behavior. You will be banned for hate, bigotry, proselytizing, or being on the wrong side of history. The Coven’s Council has the final say on all membership admittance and retention.

Secrecy

Discretion is essential because it helps to maintain the privacy and safety of our Coven and its members. In our spaces, members may share personal information, secrets, and practices that are meant to be for our eyes only. Therefore, it is essential that all members respect the confidentiality of this information. On the flipside, understand that this is a public space and nothing is *truly* confidential. Use discretion when deciding what you share and with who.

Remember, you are an autonomous being who is allowed to talk about your nature and the things you are involved in. However, we ask that you show courtesy to your fellow covenmates and leave sensitive information within private spaces. Sharing personal information that reveals the nature and identity of others without their consent is strictly forbidden & will result in a ban from all of our spaces.

Discern when it is appropriate to share and when it is appropriate to keep quiet. This is not only a matter of keeping our business to ourselves, but also knowing when it is and isn’t appropriate to talk about Vampyrism and Witchcraft to “normies.” Not everyone can be out of the coffin or broom closet safely

Evolution

We believe in the importance of lifelong learning and growth. We seek to expand our knowledge and deepen our understanding of the world and ourselves through study, reflection, and personal experience. The Vampyre Coven supports community evolution through the facilitation of positive creative endeavors and the articulation and practice of old world VC traditions using New School platforms and techniques. Through the support of vampyric small businesses, performers, event producers, content creators, teachers, artists, organizations, and projects… We vote for vampyre culture and vampyre community with our time and our dollars.

All members of The Vampyre Coven are encouraged to contribute to the evolution of our community by getting involved in our projects so you can showcase your talents and skills. From posting  relevant knowledge and experience to lending your expertise to a workshop or class and anything in between, I promise, we want you to get involved. Reach out to Madame Corvidae to find out how. The evolution of the community starts with you!

The TL;DR version? Don’t be a dick, respect people and their boundaries, speak up, and get involved! 💖

xx
